Mornings in school

Students begin the day at 9:15am and finish at 3:15pm.  Our school follows a thematic project-based curriculum which gives meaning and purpose to learning for students. We promote an inclusive approach across the whole school.

A half termly project or theme is delivered through creative and practical based learning, is used to establish connections through cross curricular and contextualised learning, thus promoting a plethora of skills for our students.

Through each project, students will be supported to develop the knowledge and skills required for future learning, work and adult life.

Lesson length will differ depending on lesson content and learning aims of each student

Afternoons – Learning for Life

Old Windebrowe School offers a wide variety of activity-based learning and social opportunities. We believe in educating our students to be successful and to develop independence as they grow into adulthood. Our curriculum includes off-site learning experiences such as horse riding, swimming, and cycling.

We also focus on developing practical life skills as part of our educational approach. The school is proud to be part of the Cumbria community, and we actively encourage our students to engage with it by connecting with local businesses, artists, and community groups.
